Snoozo wakes and points to a picture path showing a bed, toothbrush, shirt, bowl and book.

“Story circle today!” Zippy announced. Snoozo sat up, ready to carry his favourite book straight outside. Dad Moss held up their morning picture path. “What comes before we go?” Snoozo stretched and looked. “Getting myself ready. The book can wait beside my bag.”

Talk together: Say one thing you do after waking. Find Snoozo’s book and bag. Use “First…” to begin his morning; a grown-up can read the words on your own routine cards.

Dad and Snoozo straighten the bed together and arrange the yellow crescent cushion.

First, he pulled his blanket over the bed. One corner curled up like a leaf. He tried again, and Dad held the other side. Snoozo set his moon cushion neatly on the pillow. “The bed is ready for my return,” he said. “Next picture?”

Talk together: Explain what Snoozo did first and what he did when the blanket curled. Try “First I make my bed. Next…” Help can be part of any step.

Snoozo brushes his teeth beside Mum, with his picture path safely away from the basin.

The toothbrush picture led him to the bathroom. Mum helped him finish brushing his teeth. Zippy pointed at the mirror. “A sleepy koala is hiding in there!” Snoozo smiled and put his brush away. “He follows me everywhere. Especially when I remember the next job.”

Talk together: Name the job that comes after making the bed in this story. Then name where the toothbrush belongs. Say “Next I brush my teeth.” Use an empty hand for any pretend brushing.
