Zippy invites Snoozo into a blanket tent on a rainy day.

Rain tapped on the treehouse roof. Mum made a blanket tent. “Come in!” called Zippy. “We are jungle explorers!” Snoozo brought his moon cushion. Every explorer needed somewhere soft to sit.

Talk together: Point to the tent. Say “Come in!” Invite a hand or finger into a pretend tent made by your other hand.

Snoozo feels too warm inside the closed tent while Zippy wants to explore.

Zippy closed the flap. Inside, it was warm and dark. “First, the tiger cave!” she whispered. Snoozo wriggled. “I need some air.” He went out. Zippy’s grand expedition suddenly felt very small.

Talk together: Point inside, then outside. How could Zippy find out what would help Snoozo feel comfortable?

Page 3

Zippy listens as Snoozo shows her the cloud outside the window.

Zippy peeped out. Snoozo was watching clouds through the window. “What would help you play?” she asked. “An open door,” he said. “And a place where I can see the sky.”

Talk together: Grown-up: model “What would help?” Let your child answer with a word, a gesture or an idea in any language.
