Snoozo builds a cushion tower with a small cushion at the bottom.

“One, two, three, four!” Snoozo stacked four cushions on the rug. A small one was at the bottom. A wide one sat near the top. “My tallest tower!” he said. It wobbled hello.

Talk together: Count the cushions. Point to the small bottom cushion and the wider one above it.

The soft tower falls and Snoozo feels cross.

Flump! The cushions tumbled onto the rug. Snoozo’s smile tumbled too. “It will never work!” He folded his paws. Zippy sat beside him. For a moment, neither child wanted to build anything.

Talk together: How does Snoozo feel? Share a time something you were making fell or did not work.

Snoozo tries a wider cushion at the bottom.

Dad sat nearby. “Which bit wobbled first?” Snoozo pointed to the bottom. After a pause, he tried the widest cushion there. The next cushion sat more steadily. “That little change helped,” he said.

Talk together: What did Snoozo change? Use two flat palms to show a wide base and something resting on it.
