Grandma Blossom shows a sunflower seed, Grandpa Oak holds its pot, and Snoozo yawns with his moon cushion while the family gathers.

In Drowsy Jungle, Grandma Blossom brought a sunflower seed. Grandpa Oak brought a pot. Mum Fern, Dad Moss and Zippy came to help. Snoozo brought his moon cushion. “For the flower’s nap?” asked Zippy. “For mine,” he yawned.

Talk together: Point to Grandma, Grandpa and Snoozo’s cushion. Say “Hello, seed!” Your child can wave, point or use a home language.

Dad Moss adds soil while Grandma handles the seed and Snoozo gently covers its planting hole.

“How do we plant it?” asked Snoozo. “Let’s read the packet together,” said Grandma. Dad filled a pot with soil. Grandma handled the seed and made its little planting hole. Snoozo helped cover it gently. “A soil blanket!” he said.

Talk together: Cup your hands like a pot. Pretend to tuck a seed under a little soil blanket. Grown-up: handle real seeds and tools and follow the packet’s planting depth.

Mum Fern helps Snoozo sprinkle the soil gently as Grandpa laughs at a muddy spot on his nose and Grandma points to a bright place.

Snoozo tipped the watering can. SPLASH! A muddy drop landed on Grandpa’s nose. “My nose is watered!” Grandpa laughed. Mum steadied the can with Snoozo. A gentle sprinkle made the soil damp. Grandma chose a bright spot for their sunflower pot.

Talk together: Wiggle your fingers like gentle raindrops. Say “A gentle sprinkle.” Which needs water: the soil or Grandpa’s nose?
